Is anyone following the World Cup soccer/football championships?
I might smite myself for admitting this to our DesignTies readers – especially those of you who LUV soccer – but I’m a good Canadian girl and really do prefer watching hockey ;-) Of course, a championship is a championship… so funnily enough, I’m paying close attention to the results and I’m enjoying the matches that I watch. It’s not hockey, but it’s definitely good sport!!
So… what team am I rooting for you ask, and why??
They’re the team wearing my favourite colour ORANGE! They’re also “my team” because during the Winter Olympics here in Vancouver I spent a terrific afternoon partaking in the Dutch hospitality shared at Heineken House where I had a blast cheering for the phenomenal Dutch speed skaters and witnessed first-hand the contagious Dutch pride expressed in some totally crazy ORANGE outfits (the one to the right is really quite tame in comparison!)!! Bitten by the bug, I then went home and painted my toe nails in ORANGE. I proudly wore my red & white Canadian colours (LUV my maple leaf mitts!) when out celebrating in the downtown streets (what fun it was after our hockey team won gold!), but hidden in my shoes was Dutch ORANGE… my secret alliance. Admittedly, it helped that the Netherlands didn’t have a Hockey team… that would have been a real conflict for me!! ;-)
So in honour of the Netherlands soccer win yesterday, and in celebration of their advancement to the World Cup Finals match against Spain (who advanced after wining against Germany earlier today) on Sunday, I’ve pulled together some fantastic ORANGE influenced rooms!
